In het kader van een uitwisselingsproject musiceert de Cappella Academica van de Humboldt‑universiteit samen met het Orkest van Utrecht. Na het bezoek van het Utrechtse orkest aan Berlijn in 2025 is nu de Cappella Academica te gast in Utrecht. Als opening klinkt de ouverture tot Der Freischütz van Carl Maria von Weber. “Heeft u Carl Maria von Webers Freischütz nog niet gehoord? Nee? Ongelukkige mens!”, schreef Heinrich Heine in 1822 vanuit Berlijn. De ouverture geldt als een vroeg meesterwerk van de romantische muziek. Daarna volgt Brahms’ Tweede symfonie. Geïnspireerd door het landschap rond de Wörthersee schiep Brahms een werk vol warmte, opgewektheid en lyrische schoonheid. Deze symfonie, ook wel de ‘Pastorale’ genoemd, vormt de stralende afsluiting van dit bijzondere concert met gecombineerd orkest met meer dan 70 spelers.
As part of an exchange project, the Cappella Academica of Humboldt University is making music together with the Utrecht Orchestra. After the Utrecht orchestra’s visit to Berlin in 2025, the Cappella Academica is now a guest in Utrecht. The concert opens with the overture to Der Freischütz by Carl Maria von Weber. “Haven’t you heard Carl Maria von Weber’s Freischütz yet? No? Unfortunate soul!”, wrote Heinrich Heine from Berlin in 1822. The overture is considered an early masterpiece of Romantic music. This is followed by Brahms’s Second Symphony. Inspired by the landscape around the Wörthersee, Brahms created a work full of warmth, cheerfulness, and lyrical beauty. This symphony, also known as the “Pastoral,” forms the radiant conclusion of the concert.
